This privacy notice applies to personal information handled through James Taylor Electric Violinist, including this website, performance enquiries and the administration of performance bookings. For these activities, James Taylor is responsible for deciding how and why personal information is used.

Information we collect
The information we receive depends on how you use the website and whether an enquiry becomes a booking. It can include:
- your name, email address and telephone number;
- event date, venue or location, timings, type of event and performance requirements;
- messages, music requests and any other information you choose to provide;
- information needed to prepare a quotation, confirm a booking, issue booking documents or invoices, and administer the performance;
- correspondence and records of agreed changes, requests or other booking-related communications;
- basic technical information such as IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested page and date/time. When you submit a native website form, limited submission metadata such as the submission timestamp and IP address may also be included in the message record for security, troubleshooting and evidential purposes;
- security-verification information generated when Cloudflare Turnstile checks whether a Contact or Booking form submission appears to come from a genuine visitor, which can include network, browser, device and challenge-related signals processed by Cloudflare; and
- your website privacy preference, including whether optional Google My Maps content is allowed, the consent-policy version, how the choice was made and the date/time of the choice.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary. If you need to tell us about an accessibility, safety or other sensitive requirement, provide only the information needed for us to deal with the request.
How we collect information
Most information is provided directly by you when you email, telephone, use the contact enquiry form, complete the confirmed-booking form, or communicate through another agreed channel.
The contact enquiry form and confirmed-booking form are native forms hosted as part of this website. When a valid form is submitted, the website validates the information, creates a private server-side JSONL submission record for business administration and later retrieval, and forwards the details to James by email through the website hosting environment. The submission archive is not publicly accessible through the website.
To reduce automated spam and abuse, the Contact and Booking forms use Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile runs a security check in the visitor's browser and the website sends the resulting verification token to Cloudflare for server-side validation before accepting the form submission.
If the website mail service is unavailable, the form can offer a pre-filled email fallback. If you choose that fallback, the message is sent using your own email application and your email provider handles the transmission in the usual way. We may also receive information from another person organising the same event, a venue, another performer or supplier where this is reasonably necessary to arrange or deliver the booking.
When you make a privacy choice on the website, a first-party preference is stored on your device so that the site can remember and respect that choice. The optional Google My Maps frame is not connected to Google until you actively allow it.

Information needed for a booking
Some information is necessary to respond to an enquiry or perform a contract — for example, the event date, location and a reliable way to contact you. If required information is not provided, we may be unable to quote for, accept or deliver the booking.
No automated decisions
We do not use personal information submitted through this website to make decisions about you solely by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where reasonably necessary for the website, the booking, professional administration or a legal requirement.
- Website form, private submission archive and email infrastructure: the native enquiry and confirmed-booking forms are processed through the website hosting environment. A private server-side JSONL record is retained for administration and retrieval, and the submitted details are forwarded by email. The hosting and email providers may process the submitted information and limited technical data as necessary to store, transmit, secure and deliver those records and messages.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: the Contact and Booking forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish genuine visitors from automated abuse. Cloudflare processes the verification request and associated technical signals for this security purpose. Turnstile is not used by this website for advertising or marketing profiling.
- Google LLC — Google My Maps: the interactive Performance Map remains blocked until you choose to allow it. If enabled, your browser connects to Google and Google's own privacy and storage practices apply to that connection.
- Google Fonts: the site requests the Lato and Marcellus typefaces from the Google Fonts Web API. The font request necessarily sends technical request information such as an IP address to Google's servers.
- Website hosting and technical providers: providers that host or maintain the website may process limited technical information required to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the site.
- Other performers, venues and booking suppliers: where a booking involves another performer, venue contact or supplier, relevant booking details may be shared when reasonably necessary to coordinate and deliver the event.
- Professional advisers and authorities: accountants, insurers, legal advisers, payment or banking providers, law-enforcement bodies, courts, regulators or public authorities where this is necessary or legally required.
Ordinary links to Instagram, Facebook, venue websites and other external services do not by themselves send those services the information you submit to this website. If you choose to follow an external link, the destination service's own privacy practices apply.
International transfers
Some technology providers used by the website may process information in countries outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant transfer must be covered by an applicable UK adequacy arrangement, recognised transfer framework, contractual safeguards or another lawful mechanism.

How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking account of legal, tax, insurance, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements.
- Enquiries that do not become bookings: email and private website-submission records are normally retained for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, unless there is a genuine reason to keep them longer.
- Booking, contract, invoice and transaction records: including the private website-submission record and electronic acceptance record, are normally retained for up to six years after the relevant transaction or the end of the booking relationship, unless a longer period is reasonably required for a legal, tax, insurance or dispute-related reason.
- Website privacy preference: up to 180 days, after which the website asks for a new choice.
- Technical logs: retained only for the operational, security and troubleshooting period used by the relevant hosting or technical provider and deleted or overwritten when no longer needed.
Information that no longer needs to identify someone should be deleted, securely disposed of or anonymised.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the purpose and lawful basis, UK data protection law may give you rights to:
- ask for access to your personal information;
- ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected;
- ask for information to be erased in certain circumstances;
- ask for processing to be restricted in certain circumstances;
- receive certain information in a portable format where the right applies;
- object to certain processing based on legitimate interests; and
- withdraw consent at any time where consent is the lawful basis.
If we rely on legitimate interests to process your personal information, you can object to that processing. We will consider the objection and stop the processing unless there is a lawful reason to continue. You can object to direct marketing at any time.

Keeping information secure
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction. The website uses server-side validation, rate limiting, a hidden spam trap and Cloudflare Turnstile on native Contact and Booking forms to reduce automated abuse. Valid submissions are also appended to a private server-side JSONL archive stored outside the public website directory where the hosting environment permits. The archive deliberately excludes the Turnstile token and is intended to be accessible only for authorised administration. No internet, hosting or email system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending information that is unnecessary for the enquiry or booking.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses a necessary first-party preference to remember your privacy choice. Optional Google My Maps content remains off until you allow it. For details, see the Cookie Policy.
